This study raises the title Motivation and Feminization and the Breakthrough
of Women Participating in Archery at the University of Sumatra Archery Student
Activity Unit (UKM). In this study, the authors wanted to know the motivations of
women to participate in archery. With the motivation of the women in the USU
Archery UKM, it has broken down the social construction that occurs in society
that archery is the domain of men and this has led to the phenomenon of
feminization, namely the shift in roles that were previously occupied by men. In
this study, the research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach.
This study aims to find out about the motivation and feminization and
breakthroughs of women participating in Archery UKM, University of North
Sumatra. This study uses the perspective of feminization in Islam as a battering
ram for women in Archery UKM, University of North Sumatra. The objects in
this study were women who actively participated in Archery UKM at the
University of North Sumatra. Informants in this study were women who took part
in Archery UKM at the University of North Sumatra for one year or more. While
additional informants in this study were the chairmen of the University of North
Sumatra Archery UKM and the Trainer of the University of North Sumatra
Archery UKM. Data analysis in this study uses the Miles and Huberman models,
namely by carrying out the stages of data collection, data reduction, data
presentation and conclusions. The results of the study showed: 1) found that the
motivation of women to join the Archery UKM at the University of North
Sumatra was to build relationships, because of Islamic values and wanting to
become athletes. 2) Women in the USU Archery UKM have broken down the
social construction regarding archery as the realm of men. However, it can be
proven that in USU's Archery UKM there is feminization, namely the shift in roles
that were previously dominated by men, where in the University of North Sumatra
Archery UKM the number of women dominates compared to the number of men.
