Abstract

The position of women in a household generally has authority and responsibilities that are different from those of men who are the head of the household. Fulfilling household needs is the husband's responsibility, both in terms of meeting economic needs, education, and housing. The role of women in family economic activities can be carried out through activities that help the family economy in the form of micro-activities. The formulation of the problem in this research is how to empower coastal women to fulfill the economic welfare of their families in Lubuk Cuik Village, Batu District. The type of research conducted is field research which is descriptive in nature, namely describing in a systematic, factual and accurate manner the facts, characteristics and relationships between the phenomena investigated. Methods of data collection in this study using interviews, observation, and documentation. Based on the results of research and discussion on this research activity, it can be concluded that the role of Lubuk Cuik village women is in helping the family economy through trading and producing chilies which are carried out independently, both in making pastries, and managing chilies into various products such as chili powder. , chili sauce etc. Then related to the impact of the dual role of women as food traders on the family, it has a big impact, especially in terms of fulfilling daily needs, such as food needs, educational expenses, and others. Women's efforts in carrying out their roles as wives, housewives and also their roles as working women.
