Analisis Semiotika Tentang Representasi Eksploitasi Perempuan dalam Web Series Kupu-Kupu Malam di Wetv
Abstract
This research is entitled "Semiotic Analysis of the Representation of Women's Exploitation
in the Web Series Kupu-Kupu Malam on WeTV", using qualitative research methods. The
purpose of this research is to find out how the representation of women's exploitation
contained in the 7 episodes of the web series Kupu-Kupu Malam and to find out the
meaning of Denotation, connotation and myth contained therein. The analysis technique
used is the semiotic analysis method of Roland Barthes with Two Order significations
which is divided into two stages, namely Denotation, Connotation and myth and the
analysis data is collected by means of non-participant observation by making direct
observations of the object of research by watching seven episodes of the Kupu-Kupu Malam
series that aired on the WeTV online streaming application by observing and analyzing
dialogue, scenes that contain denotation, connotation and mythical meanings that present
the meaning of exploitation of women. The results of this study are eleven scenes containing
Denotation and connotation meanings that present the meaning of exploitation of the
female body by making women an object of sexuality for men and the meaning of the Myth
includes the Myth of Patriarchal Culture and the Myth of female beauty. The background
and scenes in the eleven episodes of the series also present the meaning of exploitation of
women in the mass media by showing women's sexuality such as adult scenes, sensual
expressions, and women's curves explicitly which aims to attract many viewers of this series
and profit by making women as objects and tools of attraction in the mass media.
