This study is entitled "The Influence of Communication and Education from Sayap Project
Indonesia Foundation on the Improvement of Environmental Awareness in the Tourism Village
of Bukit Lawang". The purpose of this research is to determine the role of communication and
education from the Sayap Project Indonesia Foundation in the community of Bukit Lawang,
Bahorok District, Langkat Regency, and to find out how it influences the improvement of
environmental awareness in the community of the Bukit Lawang tourism village, Bahorok
District, Langkat Regency. The theories used in this study are communication, communication
and education, environmental communication, education, socialization, and the diffusion of
innovation theory. The research method used is the correlation method with a quantitative
approach. The population in this study is the inhabitants of Bukit Lawang village, totaling 2406
people. The sample was determined using the Taro Yamane formula, and 96 people were
selected using the proportional stratified random sampling technique. The data collection
techniques used in this research are questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The data
analysis techniques used in this study are single table analysis, cross-tabulation analysis, and
hypothesis testing using the Spearman's rank-order correlation coefficient formula. From the
hypothesis testing results, it is shown that there is an influence of communication and education
from the Sayap Project Indonesia Foundation on the improvement of environmental awareness
in the Bukit Lawang tourism village community, with a correlation coefficient value of 0.548,
indicating a significant relationship. The determination test results show that communication
and education from the Sayap Project Indonesia Foundation have a 30% influence on the
improvement of environmental awareness in the Bukit Lawang tourism village community
