| dc.description.abstract | This research is entitled “Communication Patterns of Manchester United Football Club’s
Supporters in Medan”. The purpose of this research was to determine internal and
external communication patterns, interpersonal and group communication of the fans
football club. The theories in this research are communication theory, communication
patterns theory, interpersonal communication theory, group communication theory and
group achievement theory. This research used qualitative approach with descriptive
methods. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, observation and
literature review. The informants in this research amounted to six people, three of them
are administrators and three others are members of the United Indonesia Medan
community. Based on the results of the research, the researcher obtained the results,
namely the internal communication patterns of United Indonesia Medan are two-way and
multi-directional communication with two types of communication in it, namely
interpersonal and group communication. And external communication uses the same
communication patterns and types of communication as internal communication.. The
things that distinguish between internal and external communication are the nature and
