Hubungan Pengetahuan Orang Tua Tentang Erupsi Gigi Molar Satu Permanen dengan Kejadian Karies pada Anak 8-10 Tahun di SD Negeri 067241 Medan Denai Tahun 2023
Abstract
Permanent first molars are the most vulnerable to caries because it is the first permanent tooth to erupt on the jaw arch (between the ages of 6 and 7) and has pit and fissure morphology that can be a food retention site, making it easier for plaque to attach to teeth. Caries in first permanent molar teeth are often considered commonplace and are not particularly noticed by parents because they assume that first permanent molar teeth still have replacements after removal. This study aims to determine the relationship of parents' knowledge of first permanent molar tooth eruption with caries in children aged 8 to 10.
The type of research conducted is the study of analytical surveys with cross sectional designs. This research sample selection technique uses a total sampling method, data collection is performed by filling out a questionnaire by parents and examining the first permanent molars child in 119 children consisting of 52 males and 67 females. The study variables were tested with the X2 (Chi-Square) test.
The results of this study showed that more than half of parents had knowledge of first permanent molar teeth in the good category of 58.8% and that of children who had permanent one molar tooth caries was 51.3%. The results of Chi-Square's statistic test showed a relationship between parents' knowledge of first permanent molar tooth eruption and caries occurrence in 8-10 years old at Public Elementary School 067241 Medan Denai with a statistical test result obtained by a p-value of 0.012.
