Perbedaan Rerata Lebar Leher Kondilus Mandibula pada Penderita dan Bukan Penderita Diabetes Melitus Suku Batak Ditinjau melalui Radiografi Panoramik di Instalasi Radiologi Kedokteran Gigi RSGM USU

Abstract

Panoramic radiography is the most widely known technique in dentistry which radiographic images can show the structure of the condyle. Patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) experience a decrease in bone quality seen from the width of the neck of the mandibular condyle. The aim of this study was to determine the difference in the mean width of the neck of the condyle in patients and non-Batak DM sufferers in terms of panoramic radiography. This type of research is descriptive with cross sectional. The population is all digital panoramic radiographs in the USU General Hospital Radiology Installation. The sample size was calculated by estimating the proportion and obtained a sample of 30 samples. Retrieval of data using a questionnaire and the application of image J. Data were analyzed using descriptive tests and independent t tests. The results showed that the average width of the neck of the left mandibular condyle in DM patients was 46.83 mm and 57.09 mm for non-sufferers, while the right side was 47.71 mm for DM sufferers and 56.06 mm for non-sufferers. The results of the independent T-test analysis obtained a value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant difference in the average width of the neck of the condyle in patients and non-Batak DM sufferers viewed through panoramic radiography at the Dental Radiology Installation at USU Dental and Mouth Hospital.
