Errors in the treatment process can lead to failure in endodontic treatment. Periapical radiographs provide detailed information and include views of the tooth from crown to root and surrounding tissues. The objective of this research is to determine the size of the mandibular molar pulp chamber on digital periapical radiographs of the Batak and Papuan tribes in Medan. This is an analytic observational research type with a cross sectional approach. The research is carried out on 20 Batak periapical radiographs and 20 Papua radiograph. The pulp chamber is measured using Cliniview Software version 11.7. Research result in the Batak and Papuan tribes show that the average distance between the floor of the pulp chamber to the furcation is 2.02 ± 0.41 and 2.07 ± 0.38, the distance between the roof of the pulp chamber to the furcation is 3.64 ± 0.80 and 3.70 ± 0.59, the distance between the highest point of the cusp to the furcation is 10.49 ± 0.99 and 9.87 ± 0.70, the distance between the highest point of the cusp to the floor of the pulp chamber 8.47 ± 0.84 and 7.80 ± 0.62, the distance between the highest point of the cusp to the roof of the pulp chamber 6.84 ± 0.75 and 6.14 ± 0.50, the distance between the roof of the pulp chamber to the floor of the pulp chamber 1.62 ± 0.66 and 1.64 ± 0.53. The research concludes that there are significant differences in the distance between the highest point of the cusp to the furcation, the distance between the highest point of the cusp to the floor of the pulp chamber, and the distance between the highest point of the cusp to the roof of the pulp chamber in the Batak and Papuan peoples of Medan.
