Efektivitas Pemberian Infusa Daun Pegagan (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) dengan Volume 1 mL/200 g BB dan 2 mL/200 g BB terhadap Kejadian Displasia yang Diinduksi 7,12 Dimethylbenz[a]Anthracene (DMBA)

Abstract

Precancerous lesion or dysplasia refers to abnormal growths that have the potential to become cancerous or malignant in stratified squamous epithelium which is characterized by changes in cytology and cell architecture. The compounds contained in pegagan leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) have potential as chemopreventive agent. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of infusion extract of pegagan leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) at volume of 1 mL/ 200 g BW and 2 mL/ 200 g BW on the incidence of dysplasia induced by dimethylbenz[α]anthracene (DMBA). The type of this research is a laboratory experimental research with 30 wistar rats used as research samples then divided into 3 groups. Group 1 were given DMBA three times per week, group 2 were given week an infusion extract of pegagan leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) at a volume of 1 mL/200 g BW and induced by DMBA three times per week, and group 3 were given infusion extract of pegagan leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) at a volume of 2 mL/200 g BW and induced by DMBA three times per week. The dysplasia grading in this study used the WHO 2017 grading system. The results from the dysplasia grading were then analyzed statistically using the Kruskall-Wallis test followed by the Mann-Whitney test. The result showed that the value of p = 0,012 (p < 0,05), so there were effectiveness of giving infusion extract of pegagan leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) at volume of 1 mL/200 g BW and 2 mL/200 g BW on the incidence of dysplasia induced by dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA). The group that was not given the extract showed a higher dysplasia grade.
