Denture stomatitis is an infection of the mucosa covered by the denture base, either a partial denture or a full denture. Denture stomatitis has several predisposing factors related to denture maintenance. The purpose of the study was to determine the prevalence of denture stomatitis in full denture patients at RSGM USU, the prevalence of denture stomatitis based on type, and the prevalence of denture stomatitis based on predisposing factors (cleaning method, frequency of control, duration of daily full denture usage, length of full denture usage). This study is a descriptive cross sectional The sampling method used is purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria that is full denture users who have used their dentures for more than 2 years, have complete medical record data, and willing to become research subjects, and the exclusion criteria that is full denture users who are not cooperative and have temporomandibular joint disorders. Data were obtained by interview and clinical examination on the subject then the results were recorded on the examination form. Data processing was computerized and analyzed using univariate analysis then calculated as a percentage. The results states that the prevalence of denture stomatitis in this study is 21.62% with the most common type is type II (56.25%). Denture stomatitis patients mostly clean their dentures with mechanical way (50%), most patients never control their dentures (81.25%), patients who do not remove their dentures during sleep (25%), and the most usage of dentures for 2-5 years (81.25%). The conclusion of the study showed the prevalence of denture stomatitis is only found in a small proportion of full denture users, the most common type is type II, denture stomatitis patients mostly use mechanical method and never control, some patients do not remove the denture during sleep, and most usage of denture for 2-5 years.en_US
