Denture helps to improve the ability to chew, speak, provide support for facial muscles, and improve the appearance of the face and smile. Hot polymerized acrylic resin is a material commonly used as a denture base. This material has low mechanical properties that make the denture easy to break. Addition with reinforcing materials is an effort that can be done to improve the mechanical properties of the denture. Pineapple leaves contain cellulose which has potential as a reinforcing material for dentistry materials. This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the addition of 1%, 1.3%, and 1.5% pineapple leaf fiber nanocellulose on impact strength. The design of this research is laboratory experimental, the sample used is hot polymerized acrylic resin measuring 65 mm x 10 mm x 2.5 mm. The total samples used were 32 samples, where each group amounted to 8 samples for impact strength testing. The treatment groups consisted of groups without the addition and with the addition of pineapple leaf fiber nanocellulose at concentrations of 1%, 1.3%, and 1.5%. The results were analyzed using the univariate test, One-way ANOVA test, and LSD test. Hot polymerized acrylic resin without the addition of pineapple leaf fiber was 8.39 ± 2.19 x 10-3 J/mm2, the addition of 1% pineapple leaf fiber was 8.39 ± 2.19 x 10-3 J/mm2, the addition of 1% concentration was 9.67 ± 1.29 x 10-3 J/mm2, the addition of 1.3% concentration was 7.48 ± 2.49 x 10-3 J/mm2, and the addition of 1.5% nanocellulose was 5.61 ± 1.84 x 10-3 J/mm2. From the One-way ANOVA test results, a significance value of p = 0.003 (p < 0.05) was obtained for impact strength. This shows that there is an effect of the addition of heat polymerization acrylic resin. The results of the LSD test stated that there was a significant effect on the addition of pineapple leaf fiber nanocellulose at concentrations of 1% and 1.5% on impact strength p=0,002 (p<0,05) and concentration of % . In this study it can be concluded that pineapple leaf fiber nanocellulose can be used as a reinforcing material for hot polymerized acrylic resin denture bases. This can be concluded that nanocelluloce pineapple leaf fibre can be utilized as a reinforcement agent in denture base acrylic. The best amount of nanocelluloce pineapple leaf fibre to serve high impact strength is at concentration of 1%.en_US
