| dc.description.abstract | Panoramic is extraoral radiography to detect or evaulate wide abnormalities of either maxilla or mandible, evaluate the the interrelation between facial anatomy strucure and the surrounding of facial bones, degradation of bone density (Osteoporsis) and alveolar bone resorption. The aim of this research is to determine the difference in the degree of alveolar bone loss within diabetic and non-diabetic mellitus patient using panoramic radiography in Medan City. This research conducted with an analytic observational with a cross-sectional approach method. This research consists of 30 samples; 15 of them are panoramic radiographs of diabetic mellitus patients (DM) and others are panoramic radiographs of non-diabetic patients. The samples were collected since January 2023. The research results show that the average amount of posterior mandible alveolar bone loss in diabetic mellitus patients is 40,050 ± 13,791. In addition, the average amount of posterior mandible alveolar bone loss in non-diabetic mellitus patients is 7,637± 0,997. This research gives an idea of a correlation with the analytic result from Mann Whitney proclaims a significance value is 0,000 (p<0,05). Hence, it draws a conclusion of the research is HO being rejected and H1 being accepted with a significant difference of alveolar bone loss degree between diabetic mellitus patients and non-diabetic mellitus patients reviewed by panoramic radiographs in Medan city. | en_US |
