dc.description.abstractThe tapioca flour processing industry produces liquid waste with a very high COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and TSS (Total Suspended Solid) content. The liquid waste can damage the environment and pollute the river body if it does not receive proper treatment and is directly disposed of into the river body. Therefore it is necessary to carry out further waste processing so that the waste is safe for the environment and waters. he purpose of this study was to determine the effect of electrocoagulation time on the percentage decrease in COD and TSS concentrations in tapioca starch wastewater using the electrocoagulation method with the addition of Hydrogen Peroxide as an oxidizing agent and Iron(III) Sulfate as a coagulant and to determine the optimum dosage of Hydrogen Peroxide added in wastewater treatment Tapioca flour. The research was carried out on a laboratory scale in batches using iron electrodes with a voltage of 6, 12 and 18 V, then H2O2 was added to the wastewater with a variation of the dose of 0.7; 1.4 and 2.1 mg/l. Samples were taken at 30, 45 and 60 minutes after the electrodes began to be electrified, then an analysis of the COD and TSS parameters was carried out. The results of the study showed that the best percentage of COD removal was obtained at 18 V voltage and 45 minutes of electrocoagulation time, which reduced COD levels by 67.41%, and the best percentage of TSS removal was obtained at 18 V voltage and 60 minutes of time, which reduced TSS levels by 90. 20%. At a voltage of 6V, 12V and 18V, the optimum dose of H2O2 was obtained at 2.1 mg/l, 0.7 mg/l and 1.4 mg/l at the same electrocoagulation time, namely at 45 minutes. 6 and 18 V obtained the same optimum dose of H2O2 which is 1.4 mg/l in 60 minutes. However, at a voltage of 12 V, the optimum dose of H2O2 at 45 minutes was 1.4 mg/l.en_US
