The need for glucose syrup continues to increase along with the
development of the food and beverage industry. One way to help supply sugar in
Indonesia is to use cellulose from coconut coir as a raw material for making
glucose syrup. Glucose syrup can be obtained by acid hydrolysis process.
The pre-designed factory for making glucose syrup from coconut coir is
designed with a production capacity of 80,000 tons/year and operates for 330
days a year. The main process in this factory design consists of four stages,
namely the raw material preparation stage, the pretreatment stage using the kraft
process, the glucose syrup hydrolysis and purification stage, and the cooking
solution recovery stage. The amount of coconut fiber needed to reach the annual
production capacity is 22,992.113 kg/hour.
The factory for glucose syrup from coconut coir using an acid hydrolysis
process is planned to be built in Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province, with a
total factory area of 12,015 m2. The planned company organizational form is a
Limited Liability Company (PT) with a line and staff organizational structure, and
a total of 174 employees.
The results of the economic analysis on this good design are as follows:
1. Capital Investment (CI) : Rp 2.080.547.855.588
2. Total Cost (TC) : Rp 1.571.642.165.266
3. Profit Margin (PM) : 26,28%
4. Break Even Point (BEP) : 25,41%
5. Return on Investment (ROI) : 19,21%
6. Return on Network (RON) : 32,02%
7. Pay Out Time (POT) : 5 tahun 3 bulan
8. Internal Rate of Return (IRR) : 19,94%
Based on the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded that a
factory for manufacturing glucose syrup from coconut coir using an acid
hydrolysis process is feasible to establish.
