The phenomenon of acts of sexual violence nowadays often occurs in the midst of social life. Sexual violence includes physical sexual harassment and non-physical sexual harassment. Physical sexual harassment is a physical sexual act aimed at the body, sexual desire and or reproductive organs with the intention of demeaning a person's dignity based on sexuality and or decency, while non-physical harassment is a bodily movement, act or activity of sexual harassment in the form of speech. or words that have meaning in something related to sexual words. This study aims to look at the phenomenon of acts of sexual violence against women's anxiety in public spaces. This research uses qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach to describe and analyze a research result in a factual, systematic, and accurate manner. The informants in this study were 13 female students at the University of North Sumatra and the determination of informants used a purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The theoretical basis used in this study is the Theory of Masculine Domination by Pierre Bordieu and The Theory of Symbolic Interactionism by George Herbert Mead which are related to meaning, language, and thought. The results of this study indicate that female students have experienced acts of sexual violence in public spaces such as places for shopping, places for internships/practical work, places for recreation, places to hang out, educational institutions and dominated by roads. The attachment of the patriarchal system creates gender injustice which leads to acts of sexual violence. Physical sexual violence is obtained, such as physical touching, holding private parts of the body, and even kissing, while non-physical sexual harassment is indicated by acts of catcalling which include whistling, greeting, or even sexually oriented comments. There were various responses given by female students to the catcalling perpetrators, such as reprimanding them or preferring to just remain silent and ignore them. The phenomenon of sexual violence has a negative impact on those who receive it, one of which is anxiety. This anxiety has an influence on female students, especially in carrying out activities in public spacesen_US
