The media is a communication channel between the government and citizens
and the media have their interests in the flow of political communication. Media
that is used well by the government to shape its image will influence the excellent
understanding of the community. Bobby Nasution is an example of how various
political figures use social media as a new way to approach the public thanks to
the convenience provided by social media, the political imagology that builds the
political image of Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution in the community as a political
communication tool for Bobby Nasution has succeeded in producing positive
results and attracting public attention.
The research method used is the qualitative analysis research method.
Based on the aim to provide a broad and in-depth description of a problem,
symptom, fact, event, and reality, the researcher will use a qualitative type of
research. A qualitative approach is a method based on the philosophy of
postpositivism and as a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the
form of oral from people and observed behavior.
Bobby Nasution is a rational leader by utilizing social media to display his
leadership style, informing about his achievements and those of Medan City. This
fosters an image of him as a leader who is accomplished and able to lead the City
of Medan well. Bobby Nasution uses in political communication on social media is
appropriate, which includes understanding the audience by packaging content that
suits his target audience, namely young people, such as content on his Instagram
that follows current trends.
