dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to find out the role of the Indonesian Film
Censorship Institution (Lembaga Sensor Film/LSF) and what factors hindered
film censorship in censoring scenes of violence in Indonesia. The choice of the
constructivism paradigm that the researcher chooses directs him to conduct
research using qualitative methods. The research subject is the source of the
information obtained. As for the research subjects are members of the LSF. The
object of his research is scenes of violence in films in Indonesia issued by the Film
Censorship Institute. The discovery technique is carried out by means of in-depth
interviews and observation. The data analysis model used by researchers is the
interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, namely data condensation
(data compaction), data presentation (data display), and drawing conclusions
(drawing conclusions). The role of the Film Censorship Institution (LSF)
according to Law number 33 of 2009 concerning Film prohibits a show that
contains elements of violence, but there is an element of violence in the film
shown, according to existing regulations, elements of violence that are prohibited,
namely taking close-up shots up, medium close up, and extreme close up, fighting
using weapons, be it sharp weapons, blunt weapons, or firearms. Carry out
physical actions that will injure the opponent, as well as result in bleeding
wounds. The obstacle that hinders the Film Censorship Institution is freedom of
expression. One of the obstacles that is often associated with film censorship is
the pathway to freedom of expression. Subjectivity and interpretation, where the
process of censoring films may involve subjective interpretations and judgments
from the censor. Diverse social and cultural perspectives, which have a complex
social and cultural culture, and developments in technology and digital
distribution have changed the way films are produced, distributed and accessed
by the public. Film censors face challenges in supervising and controlling film
content in the digital era, especially in terms of illegal distribution and
