dc.description.abstract | This study aims to explain in-depth facts about how parenting is applied
grandparenting and find out how the process of socializing the norm values of
children who are in grandparenting care in Sei Bejangkar Plantation Village, Sei
Balai District, Batu Bara Regency. Qualitative methods with a case study approach
were used in this study. The data collection techniques used in this study were
observation, interviews, and documentation. The determination of informants in
this study used purposive sampling techniques by interviewing 15 informants,
namely 10 key informants, 3 main informants, and 2 additional informants. The
interpretation of data in this study uses the concept of Baumrind parenting and also
the concept of socialization of norm values to see how parenting and the process of
socializing norm values in children. The results showed that grandparenting
parenting provides three forms of parenting and actions carried out by
grandparenting, as well as reasons for grandparenting in acting authoritarian,
democratic, and permissive to children. The factor of grandparenting acting
authoritarian because the age of children around 6-12 years who have entered
elementary school, makes grandparents have to be extra and provide firm rules in
matters of children's education, religious education, and also homework that must
be done and accepted by the child, then authoritarian culture and experience that is
always inherent during grandparenting live. The stages of socialization and the
process of socializing norm values carried out by grandparenting in Sei Bejangkar
Plantation Village run properly, through advice or direction, then through the role
of teachers in schools and also tutors. Finally, we can know that divorce is not the
end of everything, the transfer of parental roles to grandparenting does not cause
any dysfunction in the family structure in the parenting process, in fact
grandparenting is able to take on the role of parents and contribute by providing
parenting and, socializing the norm values to their grandchildren. | en_US |
