The objective of the research is to examine and analyze the influence of inflation, PDRB (Gross
Regional Domestic Product), population size, and /PM (Human Development Index) on the level
of open unemployment in four towns of North Sumatera Province. The data are quantitative
data and secondary data. The research objects are four towns in North Sumatera Province. This
research uses Pooled Data which combines time series and cross-section within 16 years (2005-
2020). The variables are inflation, PDRB, population size, and IPM The data are analyzed by using
Fixed Effect Model (FEM) with E-views IO as the estimation device. The result of regression
analysis shows that inflation has negative and insignificant influence on the level of
open unemployment, PDRB has negative and significant influence on the level of open
unemployment, population size has a positive and significant influence on the level of open
unemployment, and open unemployment and IPM have negative and insignificant influence on the
level of open unemployment, There is the correlation of inflation, PDRB, population size, and IPM
with the level of open unemployment at 62.19% while the remaining 17.81% is explained by
other variables excluded from the model.
