Politik Luar Negeri Amerika Serikat terhadap Rusia Pasca Keluar dari Perjanjian Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Tahun 2019
Abstract
This thesis discusses the foreign policy of the United States towards Russia
after leaving the 2019 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) agreement. The
Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces agreement was ratified on June 1, 1988. This
agreement regulates the possession of medium-range land-based cruise missile
weapons with the range of 500-5500 km between the two superpowers of the
Soviet Union and the United States during the cold war era. On August 2, 2019
the US decided to leave this agreement. This decision was taken because the US
claimed that Russia had committed a violation related to compliance with this
agreement by deploying missiles that were prohibited in this agreement. This
study aims to analyze and describe how America's foreign policy towards Russia.
As for the research method used is a qualitative research method using literature
study techniques. The results of this study explain the foreign policy taken by the
United States towards Russia, namely the implementation of American First
where this policy is seen from America's own domestic interests. The goal of this
strategy is to rebuild the United States' military strength. For international security
and stability, Trump wants the United States to expand its military capabilities
and fully develop all of its capabilities. This is done so that America can protect
and defend the country and its allies from the Russian nuclear threat. Then
America implemented policies in the aspect of defense interests by trying to
describe the situation of the security dilemma experienced by the United States
and finally the foreign policy taken was to increase the US military capability.
