This study aims to find out what Indonesia's interests and roles are in
Indonesia-Malaysia cooperation in the West Kalimantan - Sarawak border area so that
later it will be concluded about how social conditions are, based on the same
geographic location, forms of cooperation related to Indonesia - Malaysia relations and
as well as Indonesia's role in overcoming problems in the border area of West
Kalimantan - Sarawak.
The research method used in writing this thesis is a qualitative research method
using a descriptive approach and carried out by means of literature study. The source
of data used in writing this thesis is secondary data, namely all kinds of publications
regarding Indonesia's interests in cooperation with Malaysia, be it books, articles,
journals, authoritative websites and local newspapers. Data analysis uses four stages
of analysis in qualitative research, namely data collection, data reduction and
categorization, data appearance and conclusion.
The results of this study conclude that Indonesia and Malaysia have succeeded
in managing the potential for conflicts that occur in the border region because in fact
the two countries are in a condition of mutual dependence on some of the basic
necessities from Malaysia, on the other hand Malaysia has an interest in and
dependence on the population and natural potential possessed in the area. Indonesian
