Solidaritas Sosial Mahasiswa Perantau Sumatera Barat di Universitas Sumatera Utara (Studi Kasus Paguyuban Ikatan Mahasiswa Imam Bonjol)
Abstract
This thesis is entitled Social Solidarity of Overseas Students of West
Sumatra at the University of North Sumatra (Case Study of the Imam Bonjol
Student Association Association). This research attempts to explore the
reasons why someone joins as a member of the USU IMIB, the dynamics
that occur at USU's IMIB, as well as the strategies used to strengthen social
solidarity at USU's IMIB. This study uses a qualitative research method
with a case study research type. The informants in this study were
determined purposively. There were 13 informants in this study with 10
main informants and 3 additional informants. The results of this study
indicate that there are several reasons for a person to become a member of
the USU IMIB, one of which is because the informant wants to find an
environment with the same atmosphere as the area of origin. There are
several things that show the dynamics of the USU IMIB organization, one of
which is that USU's IMIB membership is already open to all students. who
studied in the city of Medan, while at first it was only a place to
accommodate the aspirations of students from West Sumatra. In addition,
the management at USU's IMIB is regenerative and does not look at the
gender of its members. Anyone has the right to become a leader and
administrator at USU's IMIB. The forms of solidarity that exist between
USU IMIB members are mechanical solidarity and organic solidarity. What
reflects mechanical solidarity at USU's IMIB is that when one of USU's
IMIB members is in trouble, other USU's IMIB members always help.
Meanwhile, one of the things that reflects organic solidarity at USU's IMIB
can be seen when several members join only because of interest factors
