dc.description.abstract | This research is entitled "Communication Style of Mehamat Man Kalimbubu in the
Customs of the Karo Tribe in Deli Serdang Regency". The purpose of this study was
to determine the communication style of mehamat man kalimbubu carried out by
anak beru towards kalimbubu in the traditional attitude of the Karo tribe in Deli
Serdang Regency and to determine the impact of social, economic and educational
status on the communication style of mehamat man kalimbubu. The theories used
in this study are communication, intercultural communication, verbal and
nonverbal communication, face negotiation theory, Karo tribal behavior and
mehamat man kalimbubu. The research method used in this study is a qualitative
descriptive method. This study involved 8 (eight) informants consisting of 5 main
informants and 3 triangulation informants who were selected according to the
objectives and needs of the research using a purposive sampling technique. The
results of the study indicate that the communication style of mehamat man
kalimbubu is mostly carried out by using nonverbal communication, namely using
objects that have their own meaning for the Karo people. In addition, all informants
also acknowledged that status, social, economic and educational factors had an
impact on the style of communication carried out by anak beru towards kalimbubu.
