dc.description.abstractThis research is entitled The Message of Patriotism in the Novel Named Laut Bercerita (Semiotics Analysis of the Novel Named Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori). This research aims to find out how the representation of the value of patriotism contained in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori. This research uses Roland Barthes' semiotic theory. This research uses a qualitative approach with an interpretative method that requires researchers to argue in interpreting the object under study. The data collection method used in this research is collected directly from the text written in the novel and with library research. This research uses analysis with Roland Barthes' five semiotic codes. The result of this research is to know the message of patriotism contained in the novel. The brave attitude is found in Biru Laut and other students because they dare to get involved in certain movements. The willingness to sacrifice and never give up is done by the characters for others. A sense of responsibility in the novel is found in the characters who are responsible for what happens even though it is not their fault. Being a reformer, creative, and innovative is judged by the ability to see opportunities and be able to measure risks.en_US
