    Abstract
Background: Colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of death in men after prostate and lung cancer and in women after lung and breast cancer. Worldwide 9.5% of male cancer sufferers get colorectal cancer, while in women the figure reaches 9.3% of the total number of cancer sufferers. The systemic inflammatory response plays an important role in tumorgenesis and tumor development. NLR appears to represent an independent prognostic marker in patients with colon cancer which is also a parameter of systemic inflammation. This study tries to link NLR with the degree of histopathological differentiation of colorectal cancer patients. It is hoped that this ratio can be a useful marker, inexpensive and fast and routinely performed, especially in colorectal cancer patients. Methods: This research is an observational analytic with a cross-sectional design. The data to be used is secondary data taken from medical records. In this study, we wanted to know the relationship between the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) value and the degree of histopathological differentiation in colorectal cancer patients at H. Adam Malik General Hospital Medan in 2022. Results: In this study, a bivariate analysis of NLR was performed on the degree of histopathological differentiation. The analysis found that the mean NLR in the well-differentiated group was 3.93 with a standard deviation of 4.03, in the moderately-differentiated group it was 7.98 with a standard deviation of 4.77, and in the poorly differentiated group it was 11.09 with standard deviation of 2.9. In Kruskal Wallis analysis it was found that there was a significant difference with p <0.001 between NLR and histopathological grade. Conclusions: It was found that the degree of correlation was 0.612 which proves a moderate positive correlation between NLR and histopathological degre
