| dc.description.abstract | This research is entitled "Community Empowerment Through the Creative
Economy of Making Batik in Pematang Johar Village, Deli Serdang Regency". The
purpose of this study was to see the empowerment process that occurred in two
groups of batik craftsmen in Pematang Johar Village. These two groups have
differences, namely the Liza Mangrove Batik Studio group is empowered by
individuals and the Batik Sawah batik group is empowered by the village
government. The author wants to see how the creative economy of batik is one of
the entry points for the empowerment process for the two groups of batik craftsmen.
The empowerment process observed included the knowledge and skills of batik
craftsmen in Pematang Johar Village, how the organization and constraints during
the empowerment process were carried out by groups empowered by individuals
and by groups of batik craftsmen empowered by groups. The research method used
in this study is a qualitative method that describes and analyzes the facts that occur
in the field. The research techniques used in this qualitative method are observation
techniques, in-depth interviews and documentation. The research findings show
knowledge and skills in batik, namely in the form of knowledge of how to make
batik, knowledge and skills of how to make natural batik coloring from mangrove
waste by the Liza Mangrove Batik Studio, The process of applying the idea of rice
fields into batik motifs by the Sawah Batik Group. The Liza Mangrove Batik Studio
does not have an organization, but there is a division of tasks within it, and the Batik
Sawah group has an organization in the form of forming a management structure in
managing Batik Sawah. There are three obstacles in empowering the batik
craftsmen group in Pematang Johar Village, namely in the section; Budget,
Facilities and Infrastructure, and Community Participation. | en_US |
