Tropical forests in Indonesia are a mega-biodiversity country that has a variety of species, one of which is the Tapanuli Orangutan (Pongo tapanuliensis). This species is found in the Batangtoru landscape, which is mostly in Areas of Other Use (AOU), which can pose a threat. Strengthening the capacity of site-level managers and synergizing programs and activities for the management of the Tapanuli orangutan habitat and population in the dynamics of regional development requires policy support from the Central Government, Regional Government, NGOs, the private sector, communities, and academics. The importance of long-term, meaningful involvement of local stakeholders Managerial attraction between stakeholders is required. Therefore, it is necessary to study strategies for utilizing conservation areas. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of each stakeholder in the Conservation of the Tapanuli Orangutan (Pongo tapanuliensis) based on regulatory authorities in implementation in the field and the management strategy of the conservation area by related institutions to support the conservation of the Tapanuli Orangutan (Pongo tapanuliensis) population and habitat. The results of the study identified SWOT internal and external factors indicating the position of the Tapanuli Orangutan Conservation Strategy in KPH Region XI. Pandan is in quadrant two (II), or in a position that supports the ST (Strength Threat) development strategy, and the Tapanuli Orangutan conservation condition has strengths. Even though we are dealing with various threats to orangutan conservation, stakeholders still have power from an internal perspective. The strategy that must be implemented is to use strength to take advantage of long-term opportunities by way of a diversification strategy. The policy for the management of the Tapanuli orangutan conservation through activities to protect, preserve, and utilize the Tapanuli orangutan conservation shows that the involvement of stakeholders in each activity varies according to interests, mandates, and authorities. Stakeholders in the conservation of the Tapanuli orangutan number as many as 21. The key players are the North Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Center (BBKSDA), the North Sumatra Province Forestry Service (Dishut), the XI Pandan Region KPH, the Sipirok Region VI KPH, the Sumatra Rainforest Institute (SRI), the Indonesian Scorpion Foundation (YSI), the Ecosystem Foundation Lestari (YEL), and the Orangutan Information Center (OIC).en_US
