Development is interpreted as an effort or process to make changes in a
better direction. The development process occurs in all aspects of people's lives,
such as economic, political, social, and cultural or national aspects. Based on the
preamble of the 1945 Constitution, the main goal of national development is to
improve people's welfare. The Human Development Index (IPM) is an indicator to
measure human quality or welfare. The increase or decrease in the HDI rate in
Pematangsiantar City is due to the influence of several indicators. The purpose of
this study was to determine the effect of Life Expectancy (AHH), Long School
Expectancy (HLS), Average Years of Schooling (RLS), and Adjusted Per Capita
Expenditures (PPD), on the Human Development Index (IPM) in Pematangsiantar
City in 2013-2022. The data source is published data from the official website of
the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for Pematangsiantar City. The data is time
series data that is quantitative. The data will be analyzed using the path analysis
method of multiple linear regression models using the OLS (Ordinary Least
Squares) method. The results of the study are shown by the equation Y =
0,473X1 + 0,919X2 + 0,973X3 + 0,877X4 + 0,005 and based on the F test it is
obtained Fcount (275.839) > Ftable (5.192) which means there is a linear
relationship between Life Expectancy (AHH), Years of School Expectation (HLS),
Average Years of Schooling (RLS), Adjusted Per Capita Income (PPD), and the
endogenous variable, namely the Human Development Index (IPM).
