    Abstract
North Sumatra is one of the provinces with the largest population in Indonesia. A large population produces a large number of workers so that it requires much wider employment opportunities so that the unemployment rate in North Sumatra can be reduced, therefore there is a need for research and analysis related to the problem of the labor force participation rate in North Sumatra which is not evenly distributed in each district. /city in North Sumatra and see whether it is still under control or already out of control and to see which districts/cities should receive special attention to reduce unemployment by creating jobs. The analytical method used in completing this research is the Statistical Quality Control (SQC) method using x ̅ and R ̅ control charts. The type of data used is secondary data. The data used in this study is data on the participation rate of the workforce for 2019 – 2022, with a total sample of 33 districts/cities in North Sumatra. The results of the analysis of this study show that the average value of x ̅ which is the Central line for the control chart x ̅ is 72.6236. The Upper Controlling Limit (BPA) is 77.7234 and the Lower Controlling Limit (BPB) is 67.5239. The average value for R ̅ which is the Central line for the control chart R is 6.9994. The Upper Control Limit (BPA) value is 15.9730 and the Lower Control Limit (BPB) value is 0. From the results of this analysis it can be concluded that the labor force participation rate (TPAK) in North Sumatra is still not within the control standard.
