PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is a company engaged in the field of freight
and human transportation services. At this time train passengers have complaints
regarding the design of train passenger seats that are still not ergonomic. Based on
this, it is necessary to design railroad passenger seats by taking into account
aspects of consumer needs and anthropometric data. The purpose of this study is to
provide a proposal for an ergonomic train passenger seat design in order to provide
comfort when sitting with good passenger posture using the Ergonomic Function
Deployment (EFD) method. The Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) method
is a development of the Quality Function Deployment (QFD), namely by adding a
new relationship between consumer desires and the ergonomic aspects of the
product. The EFD method is used to make it easier during the design process,
decision making is "recorded" in the form of matrices so that it can be re-examined
and modified in the future, usually to find out whether the design results are
ergonomic or not. Evaluation of work posture using REBA produces a score of 5
which is included in the medium risk level with the need for improvement in the
form of further investigation and changes immediately. Based on the results of the
passenger seat design using the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) method,
it is obtained that the passenger seat design improvement is in the form of seat back
height 71.152 cm, seat back width 49.535 cm, seat base length 49.726 cm, seat base
height 40.179 cm, and the addition of armrests with backrest height hand
18.663 cm.
