The use of work facilities that are not ergonomic and do not support work activities
during work activities by operators is very at risk of occupational diseases such as
Muscosceletal disorders and Repetitive Strain Injury. This disease is an
occupational disease that is caused when a person carries out significant work and
work activities that affect normal smooth tissue function in the Musculoskeletal
system which includes nerves, tendons and muscles. To avoid this, it is necessary
to make improvements in terms of work facilities and work methods, namely by
scheduling breaks, repairing work facilities is carried out by anthropometric
measurements. This measurement is used to obtain specifications for visiting
facilities that suit the needs of the operator. To carry out the work improvement
method, a work analysis method is needed using the Occupantional Repetitive
Action Index (OCRA Index) cost which then results in a work improvement method
in the form of removing inefficient work elements and scheduling breaks for
operators. The OCRA Index calculations carried out before the repair show that
the left hand is in the red-high area with an OCRA Index value of 10.13, which
means that the left hand is in a high-risk situation and the right hand is in the red medium area with an OCRA Index value of 7. ,36 which means that the right hand
is in a medium-risk state, then improvements are made to the work method which
is carried out by eliminating one of the inefficient work elements and scheduling
breaks for the operator for 10 minutes so that the operator's working hours are in
the first, second working hours , the fourth and sixth are only 50 minutes long. Then
the OCRA Index is recalculated after repairs and the left hand is found in the Yellow
area with an OCRA Index value of 2.94 which means conditions need to be checked,
and the right hand is in the Yellow area. Green with an OCRA Index value of 2.28
which means conditions are acceptable.
