CV. Chandra Jaya is a company that manufactures furniture items, one of which is
guest chairs. In the guest chair production process, bottlenecks were found in the
work center of cutting, engraving, assembling and painting and polishing. The
buildup on the work station causes an imbalance. The research was carried out
with the aim of improving the balance of the production line using the Ranked
Positional Weight method and the Bee Colony Algorithm. Data collection was
carried out by observing the cycle time. Tests for adequacy and uniformity of data
were carried out on cycle times and it was found that the data collected was said to
be sufficient and uniform. The track balance using the Ranked Positional Weight
method will arrange the track into 6 work stations with an efficiency value of
81.83%, a balance delay of 18.17%, a smoothing index of 10,761.115. Track
balance with the Bee Colony Algorithm will arrange the track into 6 work stations
with an efficiency value of 83.78%, a balance delay of 16.22%, a smoothing index
of 8,305.999. The Bee Colony Algorithm trajectory is the chosen proposal because
it produces better performance parameter values.
