Hubungan Antara Regulasi Emosi dengan Forgiveness Pada Istri Korban Perselingkuhan

Abstract

This research is a correlational study that aims to determine the relationship between emotional regulation and forgiveness in the wife of an infidelity victim. The research hypothesis is that there is a positive relationship between emotional regulation and forgiveness (forgiveness) in the wife of an infidelity victim. The research sample consisted of 70 wives of victims of infidelity in the age range of 20-40 years who were taken using the incidental sampling technique. The measurement tools used are the Emotion Regulation Questionnare (ERQ) developed by Gross & John (2003) and the Transgression-Related Interpersonal Motivation Scale (TRIM-18) developed by Michael E. McCullough (2006). The data obtained in this study were processed using Pearson Product Moment analysis. The results of the study show that there is a significant positive relationship between emotion regulation and forgiveness in the wives of victims of infidelity in the city of Medan. The correlation coefficient in this study is (r) = 0.796 and sig.0.000 (p <0.05), which means that the higher the ability to regulate an individual's emotions, the more able he is to forgive others who hurt him. This study shows that research subjects who have high emotional regulation abilities are subjects who are older, have a higher level of education, are Muslim and have a job.
