dc.description.abstractThe manufacturing industry is experiencing increasingly fierce competition along with the times. This creates a demand for all industry players to find the right way to carry out continuous improvement so that production time can be minimized by carrying out the production process optimally and efficiently. UKM NASA Karya Teknik is a small and medium business that produces agricultural product processing machines located in Medan. UKM NASA Karya Teknik uses job shop type production scheduling where the process flow in working on a product does not have the same pattern. This creates problems such as the use of the same machine in the operation of a job resulting in buildup or queues of work to be processed. The problem that occurs in UKM NASA Karya Teknik is the delay in completing production activities which causes delays in sending orders due to the high turnaround time (makespan) which exceeds the time available. SMEs set a tolerance limit for delays in product delivery of 18-20% of the total product shipments. While delays in product delivery that occur reach 30% of the total frequency of product delivery. Therefore this research was conducted to overcome the problems that occur, namely delays due to high makespan. This study uses a method, namely Cross Entropy (CE) combined with the Genetic Algorithm (GA) method. This research was conducted at UKM NASA Karya Tekniken_US
