    Abstract
Research on the effect of work clothes on thermal comfort has been widely carried out and obtained the fact that work clothes affect heat stress for workers. Work clothes that are widely used by factory workers and students are of American Drill materials. American Drill is made from 65% polyester and 35% viscose or what is commonly called rayon. American Drill has advantages such as being durable and very durable, not easy to fade, not easy to wrinkle, does not melt when exposed to fire. However, American Drill also has some weaknesses such as heavy material, the price is more expensive than some other types of cloth. American Drill has a 65% polyester content so its breathability is not good. Based on research that has been carried out since 2020-2022, it is stated that the American Drill material has the highest temperature, so a cooling agent is added , namely in the form of PCM ice gel which is installed directly on the American Drill clothing . However, previous research has focused more on additives without changing the thermal properties of the clothing material, so this research was conducted to find out whether a type of fabric made from natural fibers such as bamboo can function better in a high temperature working environment than artificial fibers such as American Drilll. The output of this study is the redesign of work clothes based on references used experimentally. This research was conducted in the Climate Chamber Room, Ergonomics Laboratory and Work System Design. The object of this study is thermal manikin, the variables used are work clothes from American Drill and Bamboo material, air temperature, and air flow velocity. The results showed that work clothing made from Bamboo could transfer heat from the skin to the air better than clothing made from American Drill . Meanwhile, based on the calculation of the resistance value of work clothes, the greatest resistance value was obtained from clothing made from American Drill which indicated that American Drill clothing could withstand heat from the environment better. Thus, the redesign of work clothes in accordance with previous research needs to be developed in Indonesia.
