Peran Self-Esteem terhadap Subjective Well-Being Pada Mahasiswa Perantau USU
Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of self-esteem towards subjective well-being of perantau
students at USU. This study uses a quantitative method, involving 385 perantau students. The
method used in collecting data consist of three measurement scales, which are Positive and
Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS), Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and Rosenberg Self-
Esteem Scale (RSES) . The data obtained were then analyzed using IBM Statistical Product and
Service Solution (SPSS) version 26, with an analytical method called simple linear regression
test. The test results showed that self-esteem positively and significantly influence positive affect
(r = 0.592, p < 0.05), life satisfaction (r = 0.696, p < 0.05), and negatively influence negative
affect (r = 0.491, p < 0.05), furthermore, self-esteem affects positively towards positive affect up
to 43.9%, life satisfaction up to 48.5%, and affect negatively towards negative affect up to 24.1%.
Z-score analyze shows that several of perantau students have high subjective well-being. The
intention of this research is to provide information that self-esteem affects subjective well-being
significantly among perantau students at USU.
