    Abstract
Caries is caused by demineralization from bacterial interactions which can cause cavities and can be patched to replace lost tooth structure with composite resin materials and dental tools. Using tools repeatedly can be damaged. Based on the results of a survey at the dentist clinic in the district. Medan Selayang, it was found that 5 out of 10 clinics had complaints about light cure products. Complaints that arise are a decrease in battery capacity, lamp life, material quality, hook button, battery lock mechanism. Improvement of product design proposals begins with identifying problems with the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method to determine and translate customer requirements into relevant technical requirements and the Value Engineering method involves critical examination and design analysis of a component with reference to its functional value to obtain the same performance or better at lower cost. Based on the results of QFD Phase I, the technical characteristics that are prioritized for improvement are robustness and durability. The results of the Phase II QFD show that the components that are prioritized for immediate repair are the removeable battery mechanism and the main tube material. The result of value engineering is cost savings by substituting components from Li-Ion batteries into NiMH batteries and QTH lamps into LED lamps so that a total savings of 467% is obtained.
