Pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience as a result of actual tissue damage. Pain is a major problem in postoperative fracture patients. One of the complementary therapies in dealing with pain is autogenic relaxation exercises. This research aims to identify the pre-test and post-test pain intensity in the intervention group, identify the pre-test and post-test pain intensity in the control group and examine the differences in pre-test and post-test pain intensity in the intervention group and the control group. The research uses quantitative or quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach with pre-test and post-test control group designs. The sampling technique is a non-probability sampling namely the convenience sampling method. Respondents of this research are hospitalized patients 24 hours after fracture surgery. The sample is 78 respondents consisting of 39 respondents for the intervention group and 39 respondents for the control group. The data are collected using a questionnaire. The pain measurement instrument employed is the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The data are analysed with the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and the Mann Whitney U test. The research results find that autogenic relaxation exercises are effective in reducing pain intensity in postoperative fracture patients with a p-value <0.05. In conclusion. autogenic relaxation exercises are effective for reducing pain intensity in post- fracture surgery patients and are recommended as one of the nursing interventions and alternative therapies to reduce pain intensity in post-fracture surgery patients.en_US
