In the current era, computers or smartphones have graphical capabilities in conveying data information, but there are several obstacles in the size of the file to store the data resulting in a large file size that takes longer to transmit to another place so that it also has an impact on the length of time it takes to transmit data. This paper presents a compression technique using the Discrete Cosine Transform method, which involves reducing the number of coefficients needed to represent the input data as much as possible, which later the quantization and mask processes remove relatively small coefficients without causing visual distortion while keeping the image correlated so as to optimize compression and image quality after compression. post-processing, namely improving the quality of images that have been compressed or degraded during the DCT Transformation process which involves using the Gaussian Filter method to smooth the image and remove normally distributed noise. So that in the end a smaller data is obtained so that when it is transmitted to another place it requires a small path so that it also impacts the speed of transmitting data.en_US
