The police as the vanguard in suppressing and controlling the situation in an area from the threat of crime and riots are expected to have good performance in order to create a sense of security in society with the presence of the police. However, currently the performance of the police is considered not good by the public and even by some of the police themselves. One of these performance problems occurred with personnel at the Simalungun Police. Several factors that can affect performance are mutations and promotions. So, in this way, a study was conducted to determine the effect of mutations and promotions on the performance of personnel at the Simalungun Police. This research was conducted on personnel at the Simalungun Police, with a total population of 400 people. The number of samples is 200 people. Data was collected using three scales, namely the performance scale, the mutation scale, and the promotion scale. The data was then analyzed using multiple regression tests. Data analysis was carried out with the help of SPSS software. The results of the study show that partially, mutations have a significant effect on the performance of personnel in the jurisdiction of the Simalungun Police. Then, partially, promotion has a significant effect on the performance of personnel in the jurisdiction of the Simalungun Police. Finally, simultaneously, mutations and promotions have a significant effect on the performance of personnel in the jurisdiction of the Simalungun Police.
