dc.description.abstractBackground: Understanding of epidemiology, clinical appearance, laboratory tests, diagnosis, and treatment is still developing. 1 The results of laboratory tests on several markers of inflammation have been shown to correlate with the severity of COVID-19 such as lymphopenia, high D-dimer, T lymphocytes, IL-1 and IL -6. Methods: This research is an analytical research with cross-sectional, data collected through interviews and questionnaires, analyzed with chi-square by SPSS 25. The research participant is a healthworker at the Adam Malik Haji Hospital which is the survivors of Covid-19 in 2020-2022. Result: Increase in Interleukin - 6 is the age group of 60-69 years (39.50%), half of the study subjects are female (52.6%), the clinical degree of COVID-19 patients consists of category 5 (40.8%), category 6 (31.6%), category 7 (18.4%) and category 4 (9.2%). The results of this study found that the group with the most Interleukin-6 levels was 7-50 pg/mL (48.7%), The group requiring oxygen therapy consisted of NRM (44.7%). This study found that all study subjects had comorbidities, 1 comorbid (76.3%), the risk opportunity for Interleukin-6 levels was >50 pg/mL related to the degree of severity category 6 (OR = 2.23, 95% CI 1.21-7.32). showed Interleukin levels - 6 > 50 pg/mL related to the need for oxygen therapy NRM (OR = 3.33 95% CI 2.03-4.51). Conclusion: The characteristics of the COVID-19 patients treated are mostly women, aged 60-69 years, a clinical grade above category 5, requiring oxygen therapy, almost half with Interleukin-6 levels ≥ 10 -g/m, and having at least 1 comorbid. High Interleukin-6 levels significantly increase the risk of a more severe clinical degree in COVID-19 patients. High Interleukin-6 levels significantly increase the risk opportunity for the level of need for oxygen therapy using NRM, HFNC and ventilators in COVID-19 patients being treated at Hj Adam Malik General Hospital Medan.en_US
