A solar cell is an active element that converts solar energy/solar waves into electrical energy. This study discusses the design of solar panel-based automatic garden lights using the Arduino Nano microcontroller which is designed to operate or turn on garden lights with the HCSR-04 ultrasonic sensor. This research utilizes a voltage sensor type voltage sensor module with a power supply from the solar panel to the battery so that realtime charging occurs to the battery. The measurement results show that the battery is charged from the solar panel which is placed to be exposed to the sun so that it gets the maximum voltage and produces electrical energy. The results of tests conducted on the use of garden lights. The results of the measurement comparison of the output voltage value of the HCSR-04 ultrasonic sensor with a comparison, obtained an average percent error in measurements above 0.806%. It can be concluded that with a load of garden lights, the long operation using solar panels is up to 70 minutes and at the 70th minute of operation, the reserve energy turns off and is recharged. In the measurement of the automatic system the distance is determined for the presence of people below 15 cm and if there are no people above 15 cm.
