dc.description.abstract | This study discusses the evaluation of library staff interpersonal communication in serving users at the Library of Islamic University of Sumatera Utara Medan. The objective of this study is to determine the library staff interpersonal communication in serving library users at the Library of Islamic University of North Sumatera in terms of five Devito indicators; openness, empathy, supportive attitude, positive attitude, and equality. This study uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The population is 7,712 active members of the Islamic University of Sumatera Utara Library. The number of samples is 99 people. The data collection technique is through the distribution of research questionnaires. Data are analyzed using percentage descriptive formula. The results of this study indicate that the interpersonal communication of library staff in serving libra,y users at Islamic University of North Sumatera Library on the indicator of openness there is 66% of library staff are able to be responsible for the messages conveyed, on the empathy indicator, 52% of library staffi are able to express their empathy to users, on the indicator of a supportive attitude, 66% of library staff able to provide information spontaneously and clearly, on the positive attitude indicators, 66% of library employees are able to establish good cooperation, and on the equality indicator, 60% of library staffi are able to appreciate and help users who have difficulties. The average value of library staff interpersonal communication in serving library users at the Islamic University of North Sumatera is in the unfavorable category. | en_US |
