This research aims to find out the success in implementing school literacy in SMA Negeri 4 Medan. This qualitative descriptive research employs purposive sampling technique to select the research informants. 7 informants are selected namely the principal, an Indonesian language teacher, a library staff and 4 students of grade 2 in SMA Negeri 4 Medan. The data analysis technique used in this research consists of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Data are collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data validity is determined by using data triangulation, theory triangulation, and method triangulation. The results indicate that the implementation of school literacy activities in SMA Negeri 4 Medan is conducted under the guideline of Literacy Movement of Ministry of Education and Culture consisting of 3 stages. The first stage which is adaptation stage where at this stage almost all activities such as 15- minute-reading, and developing school literacy activities by involving parents and alumni has gone well. However, there are some obstacles encountered in terms of growing the students' interest in reading and attracting students enthusiasm for school literacy activities during the post covid pandemic. The second stage is development stage where at this stage nearly all activities carried out at adaptation stage can be developed, such as carrying out school literacy activities and forming a school literacy team are done well and established according to the Ministry of Education and Culture guidelines. However, the obstacles encountered are in terms of teachers. They do not fully understand and comprehend about literacy activities because they are not the members of school literacy team. Lastly, the third stage is learning stage where at this stage it is found that the activities are only learning and it is not related to school curriculum. The obstacles faced in this stage is regarding limited collection of new arrival books.
