dc.description.abstractThe objective of the research is to find out how far the representation of library and librarians in the movie, 'Library Wars', is, using the theory of film semiotics. - The research employs the semiotic method of Roland Barthes and qualitative approach through the phenomena which indicates the representation of library and librarians in the movie, 'Library Wars'. The data are gathered by conducting library research and movie documentation such as textbooks, journal articles, referenced books, theses, internet websites, and the movie, 'Library Wars'. They are processed manually based on the scenes and description found in the movie. The result of the syntagmatic analysis shows that the representation of the library is reflected through the Kanta Library, and its librarian representation is reflected throughfourfigures: Shibasaki, Kasahara, Dojo, and Tezuka. Meanwhile, the result of paradigmatic analysis shows that the representation of library and librarians is reflected through the analysis offigures and space background.en_US
