dc.description.abstract | This study discusses code switching in Ustaz Das'ad Latif's sermons. The purpose
of the study was to determine the form and causes of code switching in Ustaz
Das'ad Latif's sermons using sociolinguistic theory. This research is a qualitative
research of sentences too short. Data was collected using listening techniques and
recording techniques. The results showed that there were 19 forms of code
switching in sermons. In the first video there are 13 forms of code switching and
in the second video there are 6 forms of code switching. The form of code transfer
in Ustaz Das'ad Latif's sermon is external code switching, which is a transition
between Arabic and Indonesian, Indonesian with Arabic, Arabic with Bugis. The
cause behind the code transfer in Ustaz Das'ad Latif's sermon was caused by the
speaker, the subject matter (topic), and the sense of humor aroused by the speaker.
The conclusion obtained from this study, namely the transition between Arabic
and Indonesian in the first video as many as 8 forms of code switching and the
transition between Arabic and Bugis language found only 1 form of code
