dc.description.abstractThis study is carried out at the Library of Binjai State Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTSN) to determine roles of the Library of Binjai State Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTSN) in establishing students' reading interest. This study is beneficial to bring insight into knowledge on roles of a school hbrary. It employs qualitative method with descriptive approach, taking II informants determined by purposive sampling technique. Its data are sourced from primary data and secondary data which are collected through observation, interviews, and documentation The data are tested using source triangulation method triangulation and time trangulation. The results of the study show that, in contrast to field trip activines libraries have not been fully successful in igniting the interest in reading fostering reading awareness, and establishing reading habits because these efforts have not been fully performed by all students The existing initiatives include Thursday Literacy, which compels amidents to read books for 15 minutes before class on Thursday, or another effort such as rewarding students who use library frequently in guiding and directing reading comprehension techragues the library instructs students to read silently. The library has not been fully successful to broaden the horizon of students' knowledge because students level of understanding in processing information and knowledge is varied. The Ubrary provides top-notch books by providing on-site reading services and providing hook loans to take home for two days in order to assist the development of students' thinking power. Islamic hooks. Al-Qur'an and Nadish are some of the high-quality books provided for madrasa students. It is believed that the library is highly supportive to provide independent assignments to students However, there are inhibiting factors, including inadequate facilities, insufficient manpower in the library, and collections that are damaged and overdue collections from visitorsen_US
