Abstract

Balobat is a wind instrument found in the Karo community. Balobat is one of the instruments classified as aerofon end blow flute.The manufacturing technique in balobat is to determine the lubang sumbi, lubang tulbat, lubang tone hole and make the right sompel size. The game pattern in balobat is ndilahi, ngerenggeti, pulunama and finger position.The purpose of this scientific research is to see how the technique in making balobat and Game patterns on balobat. Technique manufacture aims to see the important things in the manufacture of balobat as well as in terms of the pattern of the game, the goal is to be able to know the important things in the game Balobat Karo. The theory used is structural studies and functional studies proposed by Susumu Khasima and this research is qualitative research. The approach used is an ethnographic approach. Data collection by observation, interviews and documentation. Tools used in the formof digital cameras to record sound as well as to record images.
