This research was conducted in the library at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra to investigate the types of vandalism behavior that happens to the library’s collections and the prevention efforts that have been carried out to minimize acts of vandalism. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, and the data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The interviews were conducted using two sampling techniques, namely purposive sampling and snowball sampling. The research findings show that library users at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra have done acts of vandalism by crossing out, tearing, folding pages on literature, underlining and highlighting the writing. In addition, the library at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra has implemented several efforts to prevent and minimize vandalism on the available collections of literature by providing socialization, monitoring by librarians, and installing electronic security devices such as CCTV and security gates.en_US
