dc.description.abstractThe pre-designed plant for the manufacture of ethyl acetate from acetic acid and ethanol with an esterification process using amberlyst-15 heterogeneous catalyst is planned to produce with a capacity of 155,000 tons/year and operate for 330 days a year. In the pre-design of the factory for the manufacture of ethyl acetate from acetic acid and ethanol by an esterification process using amberlyst-15 heterogeneous catalyst, it is planned to produce with a capacity of 155,000 tons/year using several stages, namely: • Raw material preparation stage • Stage of formation of ethyl acetate (asterification reaction) • Ethyl acetate separation and purification stage In the ethyl acetate formation stage (esterification reaction) a fixed bed reactor is used which operates at 80oC for 0,016 hours. The amount of acetic acid required to reach the annual production capacity is 17.801,944 kg/hour. The specific task that was completed was the detailed engineering design of a fixed bed reactor for esterification reactions. The fixed bed reactor that has been designed has the following specifications: • Reactor diameter : 60.895 in • Total reactor height : 11.0224 m • Reactor shell thickness : 0.342 in • Reactor head thickness : 0.341 in • Reactor material : Carbon steel SA-299 The planned factory location is a factory location in Tuban Regency, East Java, located between 111o 30′ – 112o 35′ East Longitude and 6o40′ – 7o18′ South Latitude with an area of 22,000 m2. The water demand for this factory is supplied from the Bengawan Solo River as much as 3,620.211 kg/hour. The required workforce is 176 people with the form of a Limited Liability Company (PT) business entity with a line and staff organizational structure, under the leadership of a General Manager. The results of the economic analysis of the pre-designed ethyl acetate plant are as follows: • Total Investment Capital : IDR 1,081,047,206,198 • Total Production Cost : IDR 2,368,291,295,977 • Sales Proceeds : IDR 3,269,269,052,888 • Net Profit : IDR 589,689,941,898 • Profit Margin (PM) : 25.86% • Break Even Point (BEP) : 50.18 • Return On Investment (ROI) : 21.10% • Pay Out Time (POT) : 4.7 years • Return On Network (RON) : 30.15% • Internal Rate of Return (IRR) : 31.23% Based on the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded that the Plant for Manufacturing Ethyl Acetate from Acetic Acid and Ethanol Using the Esterification Process Using Amberlyst-15 Heterogeneous Catalyst is feasible to establish.en_US
